Erick Aybar (2003) went 2-5 with a RBI, stole a base and scored a run in the Angels 6-4 extra inning loss to the White Sox. Alberto Callaspo (2003) was 2-4 with a RBI, Peter Bourjos (2007) went 1-4 with a triple and scored a run and Howard Kendrick (2004) was 1-4, stole a base and scored a run in the loss. Hank Conger (2007) went 0-4 and Mark Trumbo (2006-07) was 0-3.

Tyler Chatwood (2009) worked 6 1/3 innings while allowing one run to take a no-decision. Rich Thompson (2003) retired the only batter he faced for his first hold of the season. Ervin Santana (2002) pitched four shutout innings without allowing a hit while striking out seven before a rain delay ended his outing. Rich Thompson (2003) struck out two in 1 2/3 inning of work following the delay. Jordan Walden (2008) gave up two runs in the ninth for his first blown save. amarista batting small.jpgPeter Bourjos (2007) and Howard Kendrick (2004) each had four hits and Alexi Amarista (2008-09) made his MLB debut in the Angels 8-3 win over the Athletics. Bourjos went 3-4 with a triple, a RBI and scored a pair of runs, Kendrick was 3-4 with two doubles and scored three runs and Amarista hit a two-run double in his first at bat and added a sacrifice fly later in the game.

Hank Conger (2007) was 2-4 with a double, two RBI and scored a run, Erick Aybar (2003) went 2-5 with a stolen base and Alberto Callaspo (2003) was 0-4 in the victory.

Tyler Chatwood (2009) improved to 2-1 on the season striking out one in 5 1/3 innings of work while allowing three runs. Jordan Walden (2008) worked a scoreless ninth inning to finish the game.

Alexi Amarista hit .319 with 4 HR, 10 triples, 39 doubles and 49 RBI for the Kernels in 2009. Amarista led the team with a .390 OBP and was second on the team with 38 stolen bases.

Peter Bourjos (2007) went 1-3 with a walk, Hank Conger (2007) was 0-3 with a RBI and scored a run and Howard Kendrick (2004) went 0-5 in the win.

Jordan Walden (2008) struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning for his second save of the season in the Angels win.

Bobby Jenks (2001) took the loss as the Red Sox fell 7-6 to the Blue Jays. Jenks allowed four runs in 1/3 of an inning of work.

Alberto Callaspo (2003) was 1-3 with a walk and scored a run, Mark Trumbo (2006-07) went 1-4 and scored a run, Howard Kendrick (2004) was 0-2 with a walk and scored a run, Brandon Wood (2004) was 1-3 and Bobby Wilson (2004) went 0-3 in the win.

Howard Kendrick (2004) went 1-3 with two walks and scored a run, Jeff Mathis (2002) was 2-4 with a pair of doubles and a RBI, Brandon Wood (2004) went 0-4 and Peter Bourjos (2007) walked in his only plate appearance.

Howie kendrick.jpgHoward Kendrick (2004) was a member of the 2004 Cedar Rapids Kernels team that
finished with a record of 75-64 under manager Bobby Magallanes. The
Kernels lost in the 1st round of the Midwest League playoffs to the
Clinton Lumbkerkings.

Kendrick finished the season with a franchise
record .367 batting average and was awarded the Midwest League’s batting
title (although 41 plate appearances shy of the minimum necessary to
qualify, it was determined he would still have the leagues highest
average if 41 at-bats were added to his totals, per Baseball Rule 10.23)
In 75 games, he recorded 36 multi hit games and was named to the
Midwest League Post-Season All-Star team and was a Midwest League
All-Star Game selection.

     Howard Kendrick entered the 2011 season with a .295 batting average,
32 HR, and 242 RBI during his five seasons playing for the Angels.

posted a 4-6 mark with a 2.18 ERA during the first half of the 2008
season for the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Walden struck out 91 batters in 107
1/3 innings of work before being promoted to Rancho Cucamonga
mid-season.

     Jordan Walden made his MLB debut on
August 22, 2010. Walden posted a 0-1 record with a 2.35 ERA and earned a
save working 15 1/3 innings of relief work for the Los Angeles Angels
of Anaheim last season.

napoli26 cropb.jpg     Mike Napoli (2001-02) homered in his Rangers debut on Friday. He was a member of the 2001 and 2002 Cedar Rapids Kernels
teams. In 2001, the Kernels finished 60-77 under manager Tyrone Boykin.
Napoli hit .232 with 5 HR and 18 RBI in 43 games for Cedar Rapids. In
2002, the Kernels posted a 81-58 mark under manager Todd Claus. The 2002
Kernels defeated Quad Cities before losing to Peoria in the semifinals
of the Midwest League Playoffs. Napoli hit .251 with 10 HR, 19 doubles
and had 50 RBI in 103 games for Cedar Rapids in 2002.

     Mike
Napoli enters the 2011 season with a career .251 batting average, 92 HR
and 249 RBI in five seasons playing for the Los Angeles Angels of
Anaheim
