On August 23, 2007, Peter Bourjos went 1-3 at the plate with a HR, two RBI, a sacrifice fly and scored a run as the Kernels defeated the Burlington Bees 7-1. Peter Bourjos hit .274 with 9 doubles, 5 HR and 29 RBI in 63 games during the 2007 season for the Kernels. Cedar Rapids finished the season with a 78-61 record under manager Ever Magallanes. The Kernels lost to the Clinton Lumberkings in the first round of the Midwest League Playoffs.
Peter Bourjos made his big league debut on August 3, 2010. Bourjos hit .271 with 26 doubles, 12 HR, 43 RBI and stole 22 bases for the Angels in 147 games in 2011. He led the American League with 11 triples. Bourjos is hitting .227 with 3 HR and 19 RBI in 88 games for the Angels in 2012.
This is my 8th season (2005-present) working as the stadium operations guy here with the Cedar Rapids Kernels. I will be reminiscing the best performances by the Kernels during my tenure to add to my This Date in Kernels Alumni History features this year.

On July 24, 2007, Peter Bourjos went 2-4 at the plate with a HR, four RBI, a walk and scored three runs as the Kernels defeated the Clinton Lumberkings 13-12. Peter Bourjos hit .274 with 9 doubles, 5 HR and 29 RBI in 63 games during the 2007 season for the Kernels. Cedar Rapids finished the season with a 78-61 record under manager Ever Magallanes. The Kernels lost to the Clinton Lumberkings in the first round of the Midwest League Playoffs.
Peter Bourjos made his big league debut on August 3, 2010. Bourjos hit .271 with 26 doubles, 12 HR, 43 RBI and stole 22 bases for the Angels in 147 games in 2011. He led the American League with 11 triples. Bourjos is hitting .223 with 3 HR and 19 RBI in 74 games for the Angels in 2012.

On April 20, 2007, Peter Bourjos went 4-4 at the plate with a triple, two RBI, a walk and scored a run as the Kernels defeated the South Bend Silver Hawks 9-4 on the road. Peter Bourjos hit .274 with 9 doubles, 5 HR and 29 RBI in 63 games during the 2007 season for the Kernels. Cedar Rapids finished the season with a 78-61 record under manager Ever Magallanes. The Kernels lost to the Clinton Lumberkings in the first round of the Midwest League Playoffs.

Howard Kendrick (2004) extends hitting streak to 16, Mike Trout (2009-10) called up

Howard Kendrick (2004) extended his 16 game hitting streak with a RBI double in the third inning of the Angels 5-1 win over the Mariners Thursday. Peter Bourjos (2007) left the game after a RBI double in the 8th inning. Angels top Prospect and former Cedar Rapids Kernels Mike Trout (2009-10) was called up from AA Arkansas to join the team today.
Trout, who will be the youngest player in major league baseball, was hitting .324 with 9 HR, 11 triples, 27 RBI and stole 28 bases in 75 games this season for the Travelers. Mike Trout was named the Minor League Player of the Year by Topps in 2010 and was selected as the top prospect in all of baseball by MLB.com prior to the 2011 season.
