David Carpenter (2010) becomes 379th player in Cedar Rapids baseball history to make MLB debut

David Carpenter (2010) worked a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit against the New York Yankees this afternoon in his major league debut as the Angels fell 5-0 at Yankee Stadium. Carpenter is the 379th player to play professional baseball in Cedar Rapids and play in a major league game.

David Carpenter posted a 2-4 record with 8 saves and a 2.58 E.R.A in 37 games for the 2010 Cedar Rapids Kernels. He struck out 52 batters in 45 1/3 innings of work. Cedar Rapids finished the season with a 82-56 record under manager Bill Mosiello. The Kernels lost to Clinton in the first round of the Midwest League Playoffs.
