This date in Kernels history – April 20, 2007 – Peter Bourjos
On April 20, 2007, Peter Bourjos went 4-4 at the plate with a triple, two RBI, a walk and scored a run as the Kernels defeated the South Bend Silver Hawks 9-4 on the road. Peter Bourjos hit .274 with 9 doubles, 5 HR and 29 RBI in 63 games during the 2007 season for the Kernels. Cedar Rapids finished the season with a 78-61 record under manager Ever Magallanes. The Kernels lost to the Clinton Lumberkings in the first round of the Midwest League Playoffs.
Peter Bourjos made his big league debut on August 3, 2010. Bourjos hit .271 with 26 doubles, 12 HR, 43 RBI and stole 22 bases for the Angels in 147 games in 2011. He led the American League with 11 triples. Bourjos is hitting .206 with 1 HR and 7 RBI thus far during the 2012 season for the Angels.
