This date in Kernels history – May 27, 2005 – Aaron Peel

On May 27, 2005, Aaron Peel went 2-4 at the plate with a pair of solo HR as the Cedar Rapids Kernels defeated the South Bend Silver Hawks 7-4. Peel hit .308 with 13 doubles, 8 HR, 34 RBI and stole 6 bases in 52 games during the 2005 season for the Kernels. Cedar Rapids finished the season with a 65-75 record under manager Bobby Magallanes. Peel was a member of the 2004 Kernels teams as well. He hit .216 with 9 HR, 24 RBI and stole 4 bases in 62 games.

Aaron Peel played seven seasons (2002-08) in the Angels organization playing last for the Arkansas Travelers (AA). Peel passed away on September 21, 2010.

This is my 8th season (2005-present) working as the stadium operations guy here with the Cedar Rapids Kernels. I will be reminiscing the best performances by the Kernels during my tenure to add to my This Date in Kernels Alumni History features this year.
