On June 2, 1989, Eric Davis (Cedar Rapids Reds – 1982) led the Cincinnati Reds to a 9-4 win over the San Diego Padres going 4-4 at the plate with six RBI while hitting for the cycle. Davis doubled in the 1st inning for his first RBI. He then singled in the 3rd inning for his second RBI. Davis hit a three run HR in the 4th inning to put the Reds up 8-1. In the 7th inning, Davis finished the cycle with a triple and another RBI. He was the first Red to hit for cycle since Frank Robinson did it in 1959.

Eric Davis hit .269 with 282 home runs, 934 RBI and stole 349 bases during his 17 year career playing for the Reds, Dodgers, Tigers, Orioles, Cardinals and Giants.
