This date in Kernels history – June 3, 2009 – Manny Correa
On June 3, 2009, Manny Correa worked eight innings while allowing one run as the Cedar Rapids Kernels defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 4-1. Correa struck out six while allowing four hits to earn the victory.
Manny Correa posted a 8-10 record with a 4.47 E.R.A in 27 starts for the 2009 Cedar Rapids Kernels. He struck out 69 batters in 163 innings of work. The 2009 Kernels squad finished with a 78-60 record under manager Bill Mosiello defeating the Peoria Chiefs in the opening round of the playoffs before losing in the semifinals to the Burlington Bees. Correa also pitched for the 2010 and 2011 Kernels squads. He went 1-1 with a save and a 2.45 E.R.A. in 11 games in 2010 and the returned to go 1-1 with three saves and a 2.77 E.R.A. in 32 games last season. Manny Correa has started the 2012 season with the Inland Empire 66ers.
