This date in Kernels history – July 6, 2010 – Stephen Locke

On July 6, 2010, Stephen Locke pitched eight shutout innings to earn the win as the Kernels defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 5-0. Locke struck out three while allowing six hits and two walks in the victory.

Stephen Locke posted a 8-7 record with a 4.37 E.R.A. in 19 games for Cedar Rapids in 2010. Locke struck out 77 batters in 117 1/3 innings of work. Cedar Rapids finished the season with a 82-56 record under manager Bill Mosiello. The Kernels lost to Clinton in the first round of the Midwest League Playoffs.

Stephen Locke posted a 0-1 record with a 10.57 E.R.A. in 2 starts for Inland Empire (Hi-A) in 2011.

This is my 8th season (2005-present) working as the stadium operations guy here with the Cedar Rapids Kernels. I will be reminiscing the best performances by the Kernels during my tenure to add to my This Date in Kernels Alumni History features this year.
