This date in Kernels history – August 8, 2007 – Trevor Bell

On August 8, 2007, Trevor Bell worked eight shutout innings to earn the win as the Kernels defeated the South Bend Silver Hawks 2-0. Bell struck out six while allowing seven hits in the victory.

Trevor Bell posted a 8-4 record with a 4.14 E.R.A. in 21 starts for Cedar Rapids in 2007. Bell struck out 90 batters in 115 1/3 innings of work. Cedar Rapids finished the season with a 78-61 record under manager Ever Magallanes. The Kernels lost to the Clinton Lumberkings in the first round of the Midwest League Playoffs. Bell returned to Cedar Rapids in 2008 and posted a 1-0 mark with a 2.12 E.R.A. in 3 games striking out 13 batters in 17 innings of work.

Trevor Bell made his major league debut on August 12, 2009 with the Los Angeles Angels. Bell has compiled a 4-8 record with a 5.21 E.R.A. in 52 games over three seasons with the Angels. He had posted a 1-6 record with a 8.27 E.R.A. for the Salt Lake Bees before the Angels released him in late July.

This is my 8th season (2005-present) working as the stadium operations guy here with the Cedar Rapids Kernels. I will be reminiscing the best performances by the Kernels during my tenure to add to my This Date in Kernels Alumni History features this year.
