On August 13, 2006, Bobby Jenks (2001) worked the final two outs of the ninth inning for his 33rd save of the season as the White Sox defeated the Tigers 7-3. Jenks set a career high with 41 saves and 80 strikeouts in 69 2/3 innings of work in 2006 and was selected to the American League All-Star squad.
Bobby Jenks has compiled a record of 14-18 with 173 saves and a 3.40 E.R.A. during his seven seasons playing for the White Sox and the Red Sox. In 2007, Jenks set an American League record and tied the Major League record by retiring 41 consecutive batters he faced. Jenks was perfect for 14 appearances over 27 days. Jenks’ teammate Mark Buehrle broke the record two years later retiring 45 straight batters.
